Zoo Specimen 2026

Zoo Specimen is a video performance that precedes and lays the conceptual groundwork for Proimion. In this work, the female body remains confined within a condition of captivity, subjected to the voyeuristic and objectifying dynamics of the male gaze. The artist draws a parallel with trapped animals, using the television set not only as a device for the consumption of feminized bodies but also as a sculptural element that evokes the structure of a cage.

Movement begins from a state of fragility and constraint, with the body enclosed within a painted dress that functions as a symbolic restriction. Gradually, the garment is shed like a discarded skin, initiating a process of transformation. The body then evolves into a bestial hybrid creature, embodying an urgent impulse toward escape, resistance, and liberation. Through this metamorphosis, Zoo Specimen critiques mechanisms of containment and objectification while foreshadowing the emancipatory trajectory explored in the later performance.
